Centrifuges
Laboratory Centrifuges
From small tabletop centrifuges to the largest refrigerated models, Quipment can help you choose the right centrifuge according to the lab manual specifications.
Description
Laboratory centrifuges are motor driven equipment, which allow to spin liquid samples at high speeds in order to separate substances of higher or lower density, using the sedimentation principle.
Tips
Help us find the right product for your needs!
Important points to consider before choosing a Centrifuge are:
- the dimension or references of the tube(s) to centrifuge
- the type of rotor required (Fixed-Angle or Swing-out)
- the max centrifugal speed required
- whether an ambient or refrigerated centrifuge is needed
Faqs
What is the difference between a fixed-angle and a swing-out rotor?
Swing-out rotors (or “bucket rotors”) allow a better separation of liquids containing larger solids (i.e.: sand sized particles).
Fixed-angle rotors can hold a larger quantity of tubes than a swing-out type. In addition, fixed rotors can tolerate greater speeds/gravitational forces, required for separating macromolecules (i.e.: protein).
